GBS Representative visits the World Economic Forum
This year saw the 48th World Economic Forum and two of the events were attended by a GBS Representative.
The event is held in Davos, an alpine town in Switzerland, where once a year it becomes the host to over 3,000 leaders from around the world. The theme for Davos 2018 was Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.
For the first time The Ukraine House was opened within the framework of the World Economic Forum. Our representative attended Values Based Business in a Fractured World and The Rise of Civic Tech and Impact Investing, both events organized by Ukrainian business structures.
During these discussions the agreement signed between GBS and STEP IT Academy was announced, as it shows the cooperation between Switzerland and Ukraine in terms of joint business projects. We look forward to the results of this and many other partnerships.
A part of this year’s forum was interacting with the public via questions they sent in using #sharedfutures. One of these asked how we can improve our education systems to meet the current demands of the workforce. The Prime Minister of Norway answered this explaining elements she believes are essential to the future of education, such as “understanding of the digital world, but you also need creativity”. These are both skills that are currently a part of our ethos at GBS.

It’s essential that we have representatives at events such as these, to be at the epicenter of development, ensuring we hear about changes in different fields as soon as they happen.
