In GBS we care about the environment
Here at GBS we have recently introduced an on-campus recycling initiative to attempt to reduce our overall waste disposal. We now have paper and cardboard recycling bins in every classroom and office for the students and staff to use.
As an education establishment we naturally use a large amount of paper on a daily basis, therefore we decided it was important to find a solution to simply disposing of it. Recycling paper helps to conserve energy and natural resources, saving trees, water and oil which are used in its production. Did you know that there is no limit to the number of times that paper can be recycled?!
Barcelona is a green city that promotes regular recycling with a variety of recycling bins situated throughout the city. Almost every residence in Barcelona is within 100 meters walking distance from collection containers, making it easy for citizens to dispose of recyclable materials. When paper is recycled it is taken to a nearby recycling plant and shredded. It is then soaked and filtered, becoming a paste. This is dried and spread into thin sheets using rollers. Once dry, the paper cut and then it’s ready to be distributed back to the shops.
In the modern world it is increasingly important for businesses to invest time and money in energy conservation and sustainability.
Here are the top ten green global companies from the Carbon Clean 200 report, according to their total clean energy revenues:
- Toyota Motor
- Johnson Controls
- Schneider Electric
- Vestas Wind
- Philips Lighting
- Koninklijke Philips
Encouraging our community to recycle promotes an awareness and an appreciation of the world around us, prompting us to engage with our social conscious. We hope to discover and develop many more projects in the future that will help us to protect our planet.
