The thought that crosses the minds of most international students planning to study in Switzerland revolves around student activities that one can participate in. The good news is that the Geneva Business School offers many activities that may interest all of our students. After spending most of the semester in lockdown, our very active Student Services had a wonderful idea to organize a students’ field trip to Blonay, Switzerland. A municipality in the Canton of Vaud, Blonay is about 90 kilometers north-east of Geneva, set in the mountains among picturesque fields of wildflowers and sweeping views of Lake Geneva.
Most international students who have lived in Switzerland would easily describe the country as peaceful with beautiful scenery and panoramic views. These words indeed characterize the municipality Blonay. Surrounded by mountains and magnificent nature, Blonay is a classic town that proudly showcases the quintessential scenic landscape of Switzerland. A setting that our international students found very charming.
In addition to admiring the sublime landscapes in Blonay, our students also took part in several interesting activities. These involved visiting the Cailler Chocolate Factory in Broc, followed by a delightful boat ride to Montreux where they enjoyed a wonderful home cooking activity in a peaceful chalet. Blending home cooking with the stillness and beauty of Blonay’s picturesque landscapes was undoubtedly a recipe for a marvelous getaway.

Traveling without specific objectives has proven to be beneficial for students by providing them with personal growth, an increase in life skills, and knowledge. The successful trip to Blonay and the benefits that come with traveling “without objectives†has led our Geneva student campus to plan multiple student activities including another field trip to the Abondance valley, in Haute Savoie (France).

This excursion will take place from Sunday 23 August to Friday 28 August 2020 and will be carried out in collaboration with the Sainte Croix des Neiges High School. Specifically, it will consist of a weeklong trip involving intensive French lessons, mountain-related activities, and many more. A getaway plan that will certainly be appreciated by our large community of international students. In addition, this trip will also be a great opportunity for meeting students from all over the world in a relaxed atmosphere and environment.
