This Welcome Week was a multimedia marvel

Students from all campuses and online joined forces for a week of non-stop fun!

Welcome Week Spring Semester 2021

Although not all of our students could join us on campus, we still enjoyed an action-packed Welcome Week together online!

It wasn’t possible for all of our students to physically join us on campus to kick off the start of their journey at Geneva Business School. However, our new students were still able to get to know each other through a range of different activities organized by Student Services both in-person and online. Here’s a rundown of what we got up to!

Monday: The Essentials

On Monday, our new students met their new Geneva Business School family and got the low-down on all the essential information to make their time studying with us a success.

Across all campuses, our students learned about the school’s mission, vision, and values with their corresponding Campus Director.

On our Geneva campus, our students met with the Student Council and learned about activities which they can take part in throughout the year, such as joining sports teams and finding out about upcoming events.

Whereas on our Barcelona campus, we enjoyed getting to know each other and had a presentation from the academics department to learn more about how things work at Geneva Business School.

Tuesday: Taster Sessions

On Tuesday, students in Spain received taster sessions of life in their new city, such as learning essential Spanish phrases and got involved in a mini-debate about culture, diversity, and stereotypes with our very own Campus Director, Nicola Jackman.

Whereas on the Geneva campus, our new students received a ‘Switzerland boot camp’ which included everything they needed to know about settling into their new life in Geneva, such as learning about student residence permits and opening a bank account.

Wednesday: Cooking Class

On Wednesday, students from all of our three campuses joined together for an interactive cooking class led by Sid Ahmet Bellat who is not only our Student Council President in Geneva but also a chef!

Sid showed us how to whip up a simple yet delicious three-course meal of tabbouleh, a chicken pita, and a super simple mug cake. Yum!

Thursday: Online Conference & Games Day

Thursday kicked off with the chance to tune into an online conference with Christian Pauli, a CEO with over 20 years of experience in Europe and Asia in the Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management sectors.

He discussed the business and cultural aspects of leaving your home, family, and friends behind and how these experiences shape you as a person. As well as representing yourself and your nationality in new environments.

Then all of our students had the opportunity to take part in a virtual games day using Kahoot. Student Services also took the opportunity to mark everybody’s hometown on a map to see where in the world our new Bachelor’s students are from.

Friday: Wrapping up the Week

For the final day of Welcome Week, students had the opportunity to attend an online conference streamed from our Geneva campus with Romain Zappella Private Partnerships & Philanthropy Specialist at the Red Cross.

That afternoon on our Barcelona campus, students enjoyed an Olympics-style event for our students on campus. They then wrapped up the week by enjoying paella on campus whilst our Bachelor’s and Master’s students got the chance to mingle.

What's up next?

Join us for 2021’s first installment of our event series, Industry Insights with Giulia Motteran.

She’ll be discussing the importance of community building and partnership relations.
