The next GBSessions are back this April 3rd



The 2nd GBSessions of 2019 are back with a vast of insightful discussions and explorations of the blockchain, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technologies, as well as discovering the intriguing world of sports management, telecommunications and Sports Media.

Here is all the information you need to know about the upcoming GBSessions:.

15:30 – 16:00: Please note that there will be a networking session between both talks. Both speakers will be present during the break and the students in attendance have the chance to chat with them informally over a coffee, asking any burning questions they might have.

Guest Speaker: Kean Gilbert

Topic: What Is It and Why Does it Matter?

Blockchain a disruptive technology and is at the centre of creating the decentralised future and Web3.0. But how will this technology affect traditional business today? Blockchain is more than just Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and has the potential to revolutionise existing business models.

Kean Gilbert, a Business Analyst at the ConsenSys Dublin Innovation Studio, will give an introduction to blockchain technology and will explain how this technology is being leveraged by industries leaders from across the globe.

About the speaker:

Kean is a Business Analyst at the ConsenSys Dublin Innovation Studio and founder of the first blockchain scholarship programme in Ireland. The Scholarship is in partnership with UCD, DCU and TCD.Prior to ConsenSys, Kean was a Business Analyst at Deloitte’s EMEA Blockchain Lab and a Director of his own wholesale and distribution startup focused on retail and B2B sales. Academically, Kean was awarded the UCD Aspire Scholarship in 2016. This scholarship is given to only 9 master students per year that are focused and driven to be a future business leader.

Topic: Professional opportunity windows in the sports industry

This presentation reflects the frequent perception that the Western world has of Africa, in particular through the eyes of the media: famine, war, corruption, etc. It also reflects how, meanwhile, the African continent has undergone significant and positive socio-economic changes and finally, how these changes transform business opportunities and practices on the continent: growth of the middle-class and the consumer market, conversion to mobile services, implications across sectors.

About the speaker:

The speaker shares her 13-year career in the sports management industry as woman in a world dominated majorly by men. Dulce Torrero has an extensive experience in International Business Development and Project Management in the Telecommunications and Sports Media Industries.

Mrs Dulce Specialties in International Strategic Business Development. Management of large complex, high visibility projects. Multicultural, multilingual team manager across business areas, companies and borders. M&A and bid management at senior level. Project Management in Innovations and Product Development, from design to implementation and operation.
