International Women’s Day – #ChooseToChallenge
How will you help forge a gender equal world?
International Women’s Day on March 8 will celebrate women worldwide and the theme this year is even more poignant than previous years. Amidst one of the worst global crises for humanity, women’s equality worldwide has suffered a heavy blow in the movement to achieve gender equality in the home and at work. The goals of equal pay, gender parity on executive boards, lower rates of gender discrimination in the workplace and a multitude of other challenges have struggled to make progress. Worldwide it is women that make up the majority of primary caretakers and have been forced to stay home and care for family, work from home, and homeschool or have lost work as the economic squeeze takes hold in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, we live in a challenged world, and the only way out is through. The aftermath of this global crisis presents a challenge to the world and from challenge comes change. The choice is ours to challenge and to change. Action is the key to change and this year we will focus on ways to make real changes, with lasting impact.
This year we are forced to look at the challenges faced by women globally as the path to gender equality narrows, however slow progress may be. This year we will ask the question: How will you help forge a gender-equal world?
