by Vanya Maplestone
Earlier this summer Amir Mohammad and Thi Quynh Chi Nguyen presented their Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) theses progress at the midpoint of their program. In early July both candidates presented their research to the Geneva Business School research community, led by Dr. Oliver Elliot, the Head of Research at Geneva Business School.
Amir’s thesis topic:
The Full Protection and Security Standard in International Investment and the Scope of Due Diligence Obligation towards the Business Transactions and its Impact on Foreign Investment.
Amir Mohammad is a DBA student from Vienna and a practicing attorney in Iran. He graduated top of his class from his master’s in international business law at a leading university in Iran and is currently doing another Ph.D. program in parallel with his DBA at the University of Vienna. His main area of expertise lies in international business and law.
ABSTRACT
This subject particularly is of great interest as the trend of foreign investment around the world is generally upwards and the international investors are looking for ways to protect their investments and assets as governments are looking for ways to insure the foreign investors that they are a valuable option for receiving such investments. Amir Mohammad’s research findings can provide both sides with practical and reliable solutions as to what steps can be taken to protect their respective interests and ultimately grow the business.
Within this research, in addition to a theoretical and scientific understanding about the recognition of the physical protection standard, the matter regarding due diligence obligation towards the business transactions is addressed on one hand and on the other, its impact on foreign investment and the scientific question of how far the practical scope of this support reaches and may be accepted worldwide.
Amir will complete his research in 2022.
Thi Quynh Chi Nguyen is a doctoral candidate in Business Administration & CSR. She is currently working for Vacheron Constantin, a Luxury Watchmaking Maison owned by Richemont Group as Trade Marketing Project Manager in the Geneva region.
Her DBA research theme:
Have you applied? The impact of different CSR dimensions on Employer Attractiveness in the luxury industry, the moderating role of Job Seeker’s Social identity.
ABSTRACT
This research examines the causal relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Company’s Employer Attractiveness (EA) from an individual level and segmentation angle. The findings of the research will contribute to bridging the gaps in the literature about CSR’s impact on the Luxury sector, especially in the Talent Management field. Findings will also help practitioners in the Human Resource and CSR department to strategically design the appropriate CSR programs to purposefully screen passive prospective employees who are like-minded, or who have the desirable traits and values.
Thi will complete her research in 2023.
